What I do

Residential

From full renovations to remote interior design packages — spaces designed around how you actually live.

Hospitality

Concept-led fit-outs where the brief, the brand and the budget all have to work together.

Services

Whether you have a big project or just a burning question — there's a way to work together.

01

Design Consultation

Think of it as 90 minutes with a friend who happens to have over 10 years of design experience. You bring the questions, I bring the answers.

$350

90-minute session in person or remote · pre-consultation questionnaire or phone call · written summary delivered after.

02

Curated Package

A complete design direction for your space, delivered remotely. Colour palette, moodboard, material selections and a curated shopping list — everything you need to bring it to life yourself, with the thinking of a spatial designer behind every decision.

Virtual kick-off meeting · concept direction · colour palette, moodboard and shopping list with links · visualisation where relevant.

03

End-to-end Projects

From the first idea to the final drawing. For renovations, new builds, hospitality fit-outs and commercial spaces. Melbourne projects can be taken through to execution. Remote and international projects delivered as a complete package — drawings, specifications and support — ready for your builder or contractor.

Get in touch to discuss scope, timeline and fees.

Builder or developer? I bring enough technical depth to make your job easier, not harder — drawings and specs your team can build from.

About

I'm Marlene Carmen — a Mexican-born designer based in Melbourne with over ten years in interior design. With an architectural background from Mexico, I bring technical depth to every project — from concept through to documentation and delivery.

I moved to Melbourne because Australian design is some of my favourite in the world — and I haven't looked back. Before going independent, I spent two years leading concept design at a Melbourne hospitality firm, working across local and international projects.

Now I run Kind of Nice, taking on residential, hospitality and commercial work where the process matters as much as the outcome. My clients span Australia, Mexico and the US.
